Collaborative School Board-Based Pediatric Medicine in the North

Children’s Healthcare Canada is hosting the SPARK Live Webinar, Collaborative School Board-Based Pediatric Medicine in the North: A Strengths-Based Approach, on May 10th.

Pediatric medicine in Northwestern Ontario, is challenged by limited access based on fewer pediatricians per capita than other geographic areas, resulting in prolonged wait lists, particularly in the areas of behavioural and mental health. A social pediatrics model asks interdisciplinary care partners to be innovative in their approach to care delivery in order to provide easier access for children who are marginalized in terms of access to care in traditional health care delivery systems based on their socioeconomic determinants of health.

In this webinar, Dr. Linda Bakovic, Chief of Pediatrics at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and Michelle Probizanski, Superintendent of Education at Lakehead District School Board, will share more about the Lakehead Public Schools Collaborative Pediatric Clinic, which was launched to help reach the most vulnerable children.
