Le RRSEM, créé en 2006 par une initiative nationale en participation, pour renforcer la capacité de recherches cliniques de qualité au Canada, réunit 17 centres universitaires de recherche en santé et des centaines de groupes de recherche partout dans le pays. Nos registres interrogeables montrent une riche diversité d’activités de recherche avec plus de 200 réseaux de recherches cliniques, plus de 50 études de cohortes de naissances, et plus de 450 essais cliniques en pédiatrie qui recrutent activement des sujets.
Notre vision est un réseau national cohésif qui facilite la recherche clinique des mères et des enfants au Canada et au-delà. Notre mission est de former une alliance des centres de recherche clinique avec le personnel professionnel, en utilisant des normes harmonisées de haute qualité pour soutenir les études du multicentre et des réseaux de recherche.
Le but le plus important du RRSEM est de rendre autonome la communauté de la recherche qui a été créée pour le développement et la mise en œuvre de solutions aux problèmes qui affectent la santé des mères, des bébés, des enfants et des adolescents, et aux obstacles des services de santé.

In January and February of 2011, the Health Council of Canada held a series of seven regional sessions across Canada to learn what programs and practices are making a difference in the health of Aboriginal mothers and young children. A large proportion of participants were front-line health care workers.
